I must admit I'm used to the gastro-pub trend from splitting my time between central London and north Herts. I have dined twice and have been satisfied, once on my own and once with the kids. It is not the cheapest food but then again it's obviously not straight from the freezer either.
I'm not sure I would call this a gastro-pub per se but frankly given the lack of decent eateries within 30 miles I'm happy that its in the area and deserves to be successful.
I would be interested in Caroline's credentials ...I spend more than most on upper end dining ..flying next month especially for a 3 star resturant near Lausanne...perhaps Caroline and I can share notes?

Dear Caroline if you would like to come and visit us again at the pub we would like to offer you another meal on the house.
If you had mentioned that your steak had been over cooked and that the vegetables were not what you were expecting then we could have done something else for you at the time.We feed alot of very happy customers and unfortunately we did not suceed on your occasion which we apologise for.
On a final note these reveiws are not written by friends and family! as you have surgested.

Obviously the reviews are posted by friends and colleagues of the owners. I have frequented on a couple of occasions to see if things change but to no avail. On my last visit I had steak which was overdone, and chips which were limp, and paid a lot for a bowl of gourmet vegetables which turned out to be your basic peas, carrots and beans. The food is of a poor standard, very basic pub food charged at restaurant prices. I would put it at the same level as a Hungry Horse or such like, which is fine if that is what you like and are expecting but to market yourselves as a gastro pub is in my minds eye a little ambitious. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the place looks 100 times better than it did, so on the face of it a nice pub, but underneath there is a lot still to do with respect to both the standard and cost of the food. On top of that the drinks are also expensive and the real ale is of a poor quality.

A warm and welcome awaits you at The Three Horseshoes which has been transformed over the past 18 months by the new owners, Jane & Paul. The food is fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Sunday lunches are a must, I've never seen Yorkshire puddings like it they are huge! It is a pleasure to sit out in the beer garden on a summer's afternoon, the hanging baskets were a riot of colour. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and have visited this 'gastro-pub' regularly over the last eighteen months and watched it's gradual transformation from 'tired pub' to sophisticated 'gastro-pub'. It has been refurbished keeping the old character furniture with special touches like candles and flowers. The atmosphere is professional and very friendly. The food is extremely good and we would certainly recommend it. We were there last night and told the staff to recommend the owners get their own web site!

The Three Horseshoes has changed out of all recognition over the last 18 months, being totally refurbished inside and out. With beautiful hanging baskets. The food is really excellent, with portions to satisfy all with a friendly smile and great service. There is a great selection of beers and the function hall behind the pub, which has also been renevated, is an excellent venue for a party of any kind. Good Luck to the new owners.

Well to add to my previous reviews the Three Horseshoes at Norton is improving all the time. The car park area has been immensely improved with new trees planted, borders cleaned up, new lighting and fencing being installed. The rear garden is very pleasant with new shrubs and furniture and is a delight to sit in. The over all aspect of the Three Horseshoes has improved 100% in a very short space of time and this is down to the hard work of the new owners. As in my previous posts you cannot fault the food (however do they get the Yorkshire Puddings that size) or the service that you receive when you walk through the front or rear entrances. The staff are always helpful and considerate and the food is always of a very high standard regarding the set menu and the specials board. The function hall is available for that special event you may have in mind (Norton Church across the road) such as a Wedding or Christening.
You may think that I have some connection with this establishment to post such reviews but that is not the case. It’s nice to see that the hard work of the owners and the staff of The Three Horseshoes at Norton is paying off, making this a place that you really should visit for either a drink or a meal (snack or main) and enjoy the atmosphere of a village public house then you can add your comments here as well.
